Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Crusades, but modern craps is approximately a century old. Modern craps developed from the ancient English game called Hazard. No one knows for sure the birth of the game, but Hazard is believed to have been created by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the twelfth century. It is believed that Sir William’s paladins gambled on Hazard amid a blockade on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the fortification’s name.
Early French colonizers brought the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when driven away by the English, the French moved south and found sanctuary in southern Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they brought their best-loved game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it mathematically fair.
