Games that use dice and the dice themselves date all the way back to the Crusades, but modern craps is only about a century old. Modern craps evolved from the old Anglo game referred to as Hazard. Early French colonizers imported the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 1700s, when banished by the British, the French moved down south and settled in southern Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they departed Acadia, they took their favored game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it more mathematically fair.
